  • VZ225TLRB Blown Again

Blew my 2nd powerhead. Wanted to know if Yama warranty on the replaced powerhead is 1 yr from time of install or is it still the terms of the factory original warranty.

I sure hope it's 1 year from replacement..

Only if it's still in the warranty period, the warranty period doesn't get extended because of a repair done in the warranty period such as a powerhead replacement. Have your dealer call Yamaha even it's out of warranty.

      boats.net,
Just what is a "blown powerhead" ? A burned piston? A cracked piston? Cracked rings? Scored cylinder walls? Broke connecting rod?
And what would cause a blown powerhead? Little or no lubrication to a particular cylinder?
      Thanks,
      Ken K

Not sure where the term "blown powerhead" came from but everybody uses it to describe a powerhead failure from worn rings to a rod hanging out the side of block. Other than a defective part the failures are usually lean running condition, lack of lubrication, overheat or water intrusion. Preignition, detonation and piston seizure are the usually result of one of the above.
