  • Tilt & Trim malfunction

    I have a 2001 Yamaha 50 h.p. motor that has a tilt problem.
It seems to work fine but recently it started to drop down very, very
slowly. In fact, you can hardly see it go down. I checked the fluid level
and tried to add some, but it seems to be full. So it must be a bleed down
from a cylinder? I assume the problem will only get worse.
To repair this do I need a O ring or two, or is there a full overhaul kit
available? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

sounds like it is leaking internally,, maybe a manual valve oring. probalby just some trash holding a shuttle valve open.

      Tilt & Trim problem

Sequoiha: Thanks for the helpful advice. I understand an O ring replacement
would require valve body overhaul. If it is trash in the shuttle valve is there any
way of clearing that, short of an overhaul. Also do you know where one can
      buy the ring overhaul kit?
      Thanks again.

        no "kits" avalible.

if its a single ram setup do your self a favor and take it to a shop.
look on the shop wall for at least drive train certs from the Yamaha school.
