  • Fuel Pump

    Guys,
when should the fuel pump be changed on 2001 F25? Mine is 11 years old, and when I asked my mechanic to change it he told me to leave it alone till it gives me problems. I know the book says check every three years, how do I do that?
    Thanks.

I replaced my fuel pump after about 10 years, kept the old one for a spare...for $50, why wait until a hole comes in the diaphragm? They can and will eventually fail...

Thanks for he reply. I am thinking the same way. I ordered a pump today for $80.00.
How do I test it though?

        ok,
I received the fuel pump today. I decided to replace the fuel line ( engine part as well) I was just curious. Split the fuel line to see what condition is in. I must say, even though was hard, the inside was fine. Shiny, and no signs of deterioration. Yamaha is definitely using ethanol resistant materials. I will take the eleven year old fuel pump apart to see what condition the diaphragms are in. I have a feeling they will look ok, I will post the results.
