1990 Yamaha 130 change the impeller myself(non-mechanic) or take to dealer?

is there a way to know ahead of time if the impeller is bad? doesn't seem to overheat but just a dribble or very weak stream out of pee hole on ear-muffs.
    Thanks,
    tom

Blow some compressed air up the tell tail to see if that will clear it out some, or run a piece of heavy mono or weed wacker line up it while running on muffs to help clear out any obstructions.

Of course the water pump needs to be serviced every year or 2 depending on where and how you run the motor. And dropping lower unit and lubing things up is a good idea yearly to keep bolts and drive shaft from getting stuck

Thank you very much 99yam40 that did it!

i actually pulled the whole tube out and blew it out with a can of compressed air. something came flying out with a pop and shot so far across the yard i dont know what it was, but it was definately clogged.

pisses like the proverbial race-horse now!

i will still inspect/replace the impeller every couple years but works great for now.

      thanks again,
      tom
