  • primer bulb location

    Hey everyone,
I have a quick question. I have a 2002 OX66 250 HP 2 Stroke. I'll be replacing the fuel lines and primer bulb this week. I was curious as to which way should the primer bulb be positioned:

    1. facing parallel to the ground
    2. angled like 45 degrees up towards the motor
    3. does it make a difference at all?

also when i replace all the lines, is there a way to get the air out or does that even need to be performed by any other way than priming the bulb?

thanks in advance for your answers.

I can't see much difference how the primer bulb is mounted, but while priming I usually hold the bulb in the upright position to maybe help the check valve operate better?....it's just a hand operated pump to fill your fuel system at start up....

it prefers to have the arrow pointed UP, the arrow also indicates flow direction.
its sole function is to prime the fuel system, after that it can be tossed in the creek.

....but then you'd lose prime and foul the creek with gas.

has nothing to do with maintaing a prime, once the system is primed its not used.
shake the gas out prior to tossing .
I typically like placeing the primer down stream of the fuel water seperator and away from sunlight if possible.
