    can you pull the rod and piston from the bottom cylender. on a 1987 90 elth without pulling the powerhead.

    you must pull the powerhead and split the crankcase.
    you may be able to get it apart but not backtogether.

      thanks for the help. funds are tight right now i was looking at it today and tought i might be able to pull it out. but didnt think how to get the new one back in . i raced karts for years working on small engins . i think i can do this myself just need right tools .

        harmonic balancer puller and 3 8mm puller bolts.
        cant think of any other "special" tools needed.
        ring compressor would help but with care not an absolute.
        torque wrench is a must.
        8mm 12 point socket,prefferably 3/8ths drive.
        if its saltwater, then oxy/acetylyne and a supply of drill bits and heli coil kits.
