Water in oil

I have a brand new 2013 Yamaha 300. I have put approximately 15 hours on it. When taking it out yesterday, it started sputtering and I returned to the dock immediately. My dealer was actually with me when it happened. He had his mechanic look at it and said it had water in the oil. How can that happen? And what am I looking at going forward? Can it be repaired, or is something like this going to be a continuos lemon? I know I am under warranty but perhaps I should demand a new engine.
