make gear shift operate smooth

My new f20 (20 hours operating) forward, neutral, and rear gear shifting is stiff. What can I do to do to make it operate smoothly?

If it's a remote control model then check cables don't have any sharp bends and adjusted correctly. Tiller model check linkage.

If yours is a remote control unit, you may want to try loosening that friction screw on the remote unit...usually a slot head screw on the front...
