Cylinder walls were not rusted as I initially suspected but the crankcase was. Rods were seized to the rusty crank. Now I can see why fogging is a good thing. Putting oil in the cylinders did not protect this super clean low hour motor. What a shame....
Part of the problem is that they run on 100-1 at idle so very little oil is lubing the parts. Yamaha recommends disconnecting the oil pump so it goes to full oil when winterizing AND fogging. I admit I usually just run with the oil pump link off and flush at the end of the season but that's only 5 month layup...not years like this one likely sat.
I have lots of good parts from this motor available, if anyone is interested.
