  • Fresh Water Flush by Gravity

Marinas in my area usually turn off the fresh water at the docks when overnight temperatures reach the freezing mark. This makes it impossible to flush the motor with fresh water as recommended by Yamaha for those of us that remain in the water through the month of December. Was wondering if there is any value to sitting a 2 1/2 gallon jerry can on top of the motor and connecting it to the fresh water flushing port. Seems to me that gravity would at least provide a short flush of the engine block and exhaust system, but I don't know if it's worth the trouble.

i think with the gravity feed the water will run out just as fast as it goes in, there wont be enough pressure to fill the block. but any fresh water going in is better than leaving salt water in there.

I use a winterizing/flushing container from West Marine. Connects to muffs and works great. I run a mix of Saltaway in it......
I have the same issue....I come out in December and taps are usually off by then.
