Have a F60DET Yamaha outboard. There is some tubing that goes from the lower unit up the rear of the leg into a Y joiner and into the cowling. Somehow it has got caught and pinched and split in the power tilt mechanism. Needs to be replaced. It is listed as L450 in the parts manual. What does this tubing actually do? Should I just put a joiner in it or should I drop the lower unit to replace the whole length of tubing?

Sorry, it is the front of the leg. Thanks
If it is just for air pressure then putting in a connector and securing the path so that it doesn't get pinched again should do the trick.

Yes, that is all it is,, the water pressure compresses the air in the tube and makes the speedo work.. it is ok to splice this..
