  • water leaking around lower unit 2000 yamaha 90 tlry

i just had a mechanic replace the water pump. i came home and cranked it to see how it ran and noticed some water leaking from the lower unit. is there a gasket he may have not replaced . it never leaked there before. also is it possible for water to get into the gear oil where it bolts to the upper half of the engine ? i looked up a parts diagram and did not see any gasket. this is the only time i have had my outboard serviced by a mechanic. any info appreciated.

nope nothing to worry about, it was probably sealed by paint prior to the repair. unless there are seals leaking water cant enter the gear case, it is a sealed unit.

and when running on a fluser the pump drain hole leaks and it dumps water at the leading edge at the midsection joint.
      all normal.
