Teleflex steering box

The cable on my 70hp yammie broke. Needed to loosen the screws to get the broken cable out of the steering box, and now it will not go back together. Something holds it about a quarter inch open.
Anyone run into this? I have a request in to Teleflex, but no answer yet.

if it is rotary steering you didnt need to seperate the box. might have to buy another box. i have taken them apart before and pain to get back together.

Thanks, but the end was jammed in so tight, I could not release it, was kind of balled up in the track.

Took it completely out, studied it a bit, a real good smack and it went together. Yahoo!!
