I recently blew a connecting rod in my 09 75 yamaha. I have only had it for a year (bought it used) and am very concerned as to why this would happen. It does not appear to have been run out of oil. It was knocking a bit. Had anyone had any problems with this. It was the bottom cylinder. Also to rebuild it do I need to get new head bolts or will the old ones be fine?

This is not a commen problem, but if you have the extended warranty that should be covered. Yes you do need to replace the head bolts.

never heard that term "blew a connecting rod" before can you explain what came apart and what all was damaged?
If fuel pump leaks fuel into crankcase it can wash the oil off of things that need the lube
