  • 1988 130hp. lanyard Question

Hello, I have a lanyard that does not work as it should. The lanyard switch doesn't need the insert for the outboard to run. I took a look and it appears one of the wires is not hooked up from the lanyard sw. I think I may have found where the wire plugs in at. My question is " will the motor still turn over if I found the correct wire ?" I am a little surprised that with one wire off the switch that it would still run.

    Thanks

    Drew

kill switch grounds ignition to stop spark when lanyard is pulled off.
If one wire is not attached, it is either the Black ground wire or the ignition wire, either way switch cannot ground it out if both wires are not hooked up. Has nothing to do with turning motor over

Thank you I will hook it up and see what happens. The boat was out of water so testing wasn't easy.
