  • No power to engine

    Posted yesterday on this subject.
I have a 2002 Yamaha SX150B with a 2000cc Century center console. Last time the boat was out it ran fine. I have power to all the pumps and lights etc. When I try to raise the engine either with the trim on the gear handle or the side of the engine I get nothing. Have checked all the fuses and found one 10AMP blown. Replaced it and still nothing. Checked the 30 AMP on the engine and they are OK? Could it be that the (dead man) switch is bad and not letting the current flow to the starter etc.?
    I'm lost at this point......

if everything on the boat works and nothing on the engine works it has to be a voltage or ground issue to the motor. it is usually a blown main engine fuse, but you say you checked this, i would hook a set of jumper cables excatly where your battery cables are. this would eliminate the battery cables. if it works then unhook one cable at a time to determine which cable is the problem, if it still doesnt work then there is a wiring issue on the engine. should be pretty easy to find.
