40 HP Fourstroke problems.............

My buddy has a 09' (i think) 4 stroke. She starts fine and when driving after it warms up after about 20 mins of running you'll have it WOT and it will die.... it says running but just no power. Let it sit and drive another 10 mins, it does the same thing.... Take the hood off and she'll run fine all day....

Anyone know what might be causing this. It seems like it's not getting enough air or something..

Not sure what this means. Dies and stays running are 2 totally different things


I would monitor fuel pressure/vacuum to see if supply is having a problem.

If that is fine maybe you have an exhaust leak under cowling and removing cowling gives it fresh air.

have a dealer run the PID, there was a recall on some of the F40 VST pumps due to just what you describe.
