C25MLHV max rpm question

i have a 1997 25hp 2 stroke, the manual says max rpm is 5500, but with the stock prop it turns 6000 to 6200. 1998 and up models say 6000 is max, any idea why this year model was rated lower?

The 25HP 2 cylinder oil injected models from 1994-2005 are 5000-6000 rpm's. 2 cylinder non oil injection is 4500-5500 rpm's. 3 cylinder models are 4500-5500 rpm's and the four stroke models are 5000-6000 rpm's

Sorry I left out what your engine should be. Your engine is 97 non oil injection which from 1994-97 was 4500-5500 rpm's.

thanks for your help and information, i wonder what the difference in the oil injection models is that allows them to rev up to 6000?
