  • Oil injection - keep it or get rid of it?

I have been discussing the issue of oil injection with a few guys here in town and they say to get rid of it. They are telling me that if the pump fails that there is no fail safe to protect the motor. I have an 87 Yamaha 70hp that is oil injected and its the first injected motor I have owned and I love the feature but I certainly dont want to risk any type of failure that will jepordize my motor.

So - should I keep it? Is there a fail safe to protect the motor in case of a pump failure? Or should I just remove it?

keep it, just keep up with proper maintenance of the oil system.
Gear driven oil pumps do not normally fail unless you do not keep clean oil flowing. Filters and check valves need attention from time to time

      Agree, a very reliable system.
