  • 2005 f250 smokes on start up

My f250 is smoking on start up , only when tilted down . Had a leak down test today and it passed the heads were replaced last year by yamaha for same problem this time of course no warranty , the service tech says its a ring problem ?? if leak down test is ok how do we know its rings ? the motor runs fine after the smoke clears and still turns 5600 rpm like starboard motor . motor has 1432 hrs

    What does this mean?
Do you start it up sometimes with motors tilted up and sometimes down?

Do you store the motor tilted all the way down and allow oil to run past the rings and on to top of pistons so it will burn at start up?

when you shut it down tilt the motor up enough to make the oil on cylinder walls to run back to the sump and not to the heads. That will keep oil from getting into combustion chambers

those 6 cylinders are sealed tubes, mostly.
if you leave the spark plug end of the tubes below horizontal at shutdown oil leaks into the combustion chamber and burns off at the next restart.
if you dont like it simply trim the engine so the plugs are above horizontal at shut down.
            its normal.
turn your lexus upside down every night when you get home and see if it smokes the next morning.
