2011 Yamaha outboard 150 lost reverse after hitting rocks!

I have a 2011 Yamaha 150 that came in contact with some rocks this weekend. After the impact the reverse no longer worked. There is some damage to the lower unit but for the most part it is cosmetic. After returning home we were able to adjust the linkage enough to get it to go into reverse. We had to back the linkage out even more after we tried it in the water. It does now go into reverse but grinds. There are no problems getting it into neutral or forward. Does anyone have any idea what could be damaged?

time to dissasemble the case and check the shift mechanism for damage.
do it now while its cheaper.

Thanks, that is what i am afraid of. I was hopeful to avoid this because it is still under warranty. I am hopeful that if this has happened to someone else they might say exactly what it is.
