  • 2002 25hp 4-stroke

I was running in about 4 feet of water at about 22 mph when my motor backed down. I then shut off the motor then turned it back on. It cranked right up and idled fine. But when i tried to accelerate the motor just reved up. Can anyone give me any help on what might be the problem and what i can do to fix it. Thanks!

Sounds like a "spun prop", which is where the rubber bushing between the inner prop hub and the outer part with the blades, fails...like the clutch on a car fails. You may need to replace or repair the prop. If it's aluminum for a 25HP motor, a new one is not too expensive. A "prop shop" can also repair it by replacing that rubber bushing. Good Luck!
