  • Water cooling question

When cleaning the engine after saltwater use, we use the garden house connector. Water comes out of the cooling water pilot hole as well as the outlet on mid-shaft. The manual says to run the eater 15 minutes with the engine apparently off.

The manual does not address having the engine running at idle with the gas hose removed to purge the carb of gas. Is it OK to do this?

what motor are you talking about?
normally you would treat the fuel with stabilizer and keep fuel lines and carbs full for short term set up.

It's a F25TLRB. Yes, we treat all gas with Stabil but would rather purge the carb of fuel before storage.

you cannot run all the fuel out of carbs by running motor, you will always leave some in the bottom of the bowls, lines, and pump.
When that evaporates you end up with residue in bowls, lines, and pump. That will hit carbs once primed up and cranked up.
kind of a waist of time and you end up running some cylinders lean or completely with out fuel while the others are still firing.

But they do have drain plugs on carb bowls to drain them completely. Still have fuel in lines and pump though

OK, but to the question - does it hurt to run the motor at idle using the hose connector.

No shouldn't run engine on fresh water flush, need to use ear muff style flusher to run engine.
