2004 2stroke 90hp oil leak

oil is leaking from the tank where the oil sensor cap is attatched, how can i tell if it is a bad cap or warped tank, would it be alright to put a zip-tie in the groove on the cap?

You can removed sensor, clean and put non harding permatex inside lip of sensor cap, carefull not to get too much and not to allow any to get into oil tank, or you can replace oil level sensor.

I went with the zip-tie option in the groove of the cap, actually had to use two smaller ties together to fit in the groove, so far so good
