  • Shutting Down

    Hi guys,

I mostly lurk on this site and I have learned quite a bit, so thanks for all the help. Now I have a question I hope a few of you are familar with can give me an answer to.

I have recently made friends with a guy that has the same motor as I do, 2001 150 HPDI. He told me that his dealer told him the proper way to shut down the motor at the end of the day was to raise the RPM's to 1500 and then shut it off. It had something to do with loading oil in the cyclinders. I was never told this and I couldn't find this procedure anywhere in the owners manual either.

Here's the questions, has anyone else heard of this? Does anyone do this to their motor before shutting it down at the end of the day?

I wouldn't think it would do much, at 1500 rpm's the oil pump is just starting to increase output.
