  • HPDI warm start problem

I have a 2001 200 HPDI that starts like a champ when cold, but when the motor is off for 20 minutes or more it has to be cranked 3+ times before if fires up. It has been checked 3 times by 2 different mechanics but the computer tells them it is fine. I almost wonder if the computer is telling it to cold start even when it is warm, but I already tested all the temp sensors and replaced all filters.
I am considering rebuilding the low pressure fuel pumps and replacing the fuel lines in case of leaks. any one hear of this problem or have a solution? Thanks.

Did they do the test when it was cold or when the problem is occuring?
May be a vapor lock problem, try idle engine for a minute before shutting off to cool engine down, if can get some non-ethanol gas might try that to see if helps.

Vapor lock is possible. I know the one guy ran it a while during diagnostics, but I don't know if he restarted afterwards. I read someone had similiar issues and it was one of the low pressure pumps was torn. I am kind of stuck with ethonal gas being in Ca.
