yamaha 703 wiring to yamaha hour meter gauge

I need to know how to wire my yamaha hour meter 6Y5-83504-11-00 to a 703 control box.

Hour meter: has 4 wires : yellow, two black, blue. The two black must be ground. the blue is for gauge illumination. where does the yellow go to?

703 control box: yellow is ign., green is tach signal, red is constant 12v, dark green is tach sender.

Also has two purple wires connected together, light green wires connected together, red with white line connected together.

I connected the yellow wire to yellow ign and it makes a ticking noise. this is not right is it? It has to go somewhere else.

Yes Yellow gauge lead connects to yellow control box lead and when key is on hour meter will track time and make a ticking noise.
