  • Hard to reach grease fittings

I have a problem getting grease into the zert fitting on my 2003 Yamaha 200 hpdi. These are the fittings that are used to lubricate the steering and tilt on the front of the engine. A straight rod on the grease gun won't fit because the steering rod is interferring. A hose won't stay on. I believe a 90 degree angle xert would work but do not know what size thread and zert tip I should order. Anybody know what size these are on the Yamaha outboard?

Maybe you could just loosen or remove that steering arm enough to get to the zerks? I use a grease needle(Autozone) that you can attach to your grease gun, stick the needle into the tip of the zerk and pump it in....Good Luck!
