running engine with water hose

Dear all ,I have just changed the impeller on my f115 four stroke (year 2007)and i want to check the engine.Can I connect a water hose to the flushing attachment at the side and run the engine outside a water tank or submerged? Will this damage the engine?

Shouldn't run on fresh water flush adapter could damage water pump. If testing water pump then need to put it in water, if put it a tub of water make sure lower unit is deep enough to completely submerge water pump housing.
