  • 1993 Pro V 150 Blown Power Head

I blew the powerhead on my 93 pro V150. Dealer gave me an estimate of $4000 to replace. I don't really want to throw that kind of dough into a 93 motor..He has a 2003 leftover 150 HPDI for $8500. Anyone know if this is a good buy or a good clean running motor? I was really happy with ProV. It was a good reliable motor for 12 years! Any input is appreciated. thanks.

The VZ150 HPDI is a great motor, no problems. Stronger than the Pro-V was. Much better gas mileage too. You owe it to yourself. Yes $8500 is a good price for a zero time leftover '03 motor with the factory 2 year warranty. A new '06 is about $11k. The harness from your '93 is most likely different than the new '03 harness so you may need either a new harness or adapter plugs. If it's workable in the deal I'd get the new harness. Your old prop will work, but it would be nice to have a new PowerTech OFX on there too.
