• Need fuel mix ratio

I acquired a used 1988 Yamaha Pro 50 (Model# PRO50LG) and need to verify the gas/oil mix ratio (the previous owner gave me a can of premixed gas but I forgot to ask about the ratio). Also, it spits & sputters occasionally while idling; is that easy to troubleshoot?

ibeeda'man ,
50:1 is your fuel/oil ratio - 12.5 gallons of gas to 1 qt oil, or 6.25 gallons of gas to 1 pint oil.
Rough idle usually means clogged carbs - try a shock treatmenst with a detergent like Seafoam or Yamaha RingFree. If that doesn't do the trick, then you can remove the jets of the carbs and squirt some Berryman's Chemtool into the orifices. If that doesn't help, then remove the carbs, teardown, clean, and install carb kit.
Also, if the plugs haven't been changed in the last year, might want to do it.
Good luck ,
