Cable steering on 200hp four stroke?

I was talking with a coastie about a boat I work out of and he noticed that we have cable steering on a 200hp four stroke. He thought that cable steering was only approved on motors up to 150hp.
With that info my question is...is there a cable steering system that is approved for use on a 200? Do we need to upgrade to hydrolic?

The general rule is if the boat runs over 50 mph it needs dual cable or hydraulic steering.
