Yamaha 115 Trim/Tilt

New to the forum, but it has been a great help just reading the questions and answers.

My question is when you adding fluid to the trim tilt system should the trim tilt rods be extended or retracted?

Tilt all the way up, add fluid replace the cap, run the T&T up and down a few times, open the cap just enough to let out the air, repeat until no air escapes..
