  • Correct prop re rpm..

    Hey guys,

Have been doing a bit of research into a new prop for my boat, and have just got a new 4 blade stainless prop, took it out for a run today, and just wanting to know whether the figures seem good? Motor is a 1997 225hp 2 stroke, WOT range is 4500-5500. Prop is 20"

Boat loaded up with full fuel, and 4 people,
    At WOT it's pulling 5100rpm

And my cruise rpm is now at about 3500rpm.

Is this a good reliable set up? It feels great, everything about it seems good, I've just heard that not pulling max rpm at WOT can overload motor at cruise rpm and cause it to overheat and pop!?

That will work if you are happy with performance, dropping to a 18 pitch will increase it to high end of rpm range and increase hole shot but may be less top speed.

I'm very happy with the performance, Has transformed the boat! Just making sure that it's not likely to be overloading the motor.
