  • Odor of Gasoline...Is this "Normal?"

Every time I put my boat back into my garage after running it, I smell gas for a few days around the engine. A couple of buddies told me this is to be expected with a carburetor outboard. However over the years I have had three other carburetor outboards that did not do this.

FYI, I use a transom saver so the engine is always tilted up some.

    Any thoughts on this?

    Thanks

After you run it next time remove cowling and trim it it up, look for any gas leaks. It may take a few minutes before see gas leaking.

Maybe park the boat Outside the garage until you identify the source of the gasoline odor? Gas fumes are bad news! Sounds like a leak in a line, primer bulb, quick-disconnect fitting, filter, pump, etc. Good Luck!
