I have an 01 hurricane deck boat, with a Yamaha sx150trxz outboard. Here is my problem. I turn the key off and the motor continues to run. I pulled the lanyard kill switch and it continues to run. My friend, who works on boats, believes it's either the main harness or the ignition switch is bad. The only way to turn off the boat is to turn the batteries off, raise the motor and the motor will shut off. If I continue this, it could hurt the motors computer I believe. I called the local dealer, they off course want me to make an appt. They want $175 for a switch because they sell the whole panel with it. Any suggestions?

Need to test continuity on key switch between white wire and black wire to test switch, need to check for continuity on white wire in main between engine connector and key switch connector to see if broken wire. -
Tested continuity of white wire on main harness, didn't ohm out. Replaced the main harness and it did the job. Thanks!Comment
