  • Yamaha 1991 200HP TLRP outboard

    Hi,
I usually start my outboard once a week when not in use, I do it connecting the coupling washing ears to the water intake, well my concern is that it take a long time at least 4 minutes for the water to come out of the pilot hole in the bottom cowling. I am afraid to overheat the engine.
I inspected the water pump impeller and it is OK.
Does this motor has thermostatic valves?
Should I increase the hose's water pressure ?
    Is this time normal?
When the boat is in the water the water pilot comes rather quick !

The V6 engine take a lot of water that you normally can't enough water from flusher and they will overheat. It is better to run it in water, even if it is a big tub as long as can get lower unit deep enough to cover water pump assy.

Thank you ! I will go that route, using a tank to assure there is enough water to flush the engine.
