  • Burnt CDI Unit S150TXRX 1999 ?

    Interesting issue with this motor, uncommon burnt cdi unit, where the plastic is melted.

    Carbs with oil injection S150TXRX

    Voltage regulator good, stator good, test procedures done as instructed in manual.

    Just doing all the checks I can before putting another cdi unit on this outboard, costly part.

    I'm leaning towards a short with his battery, rats nest of wires with uninsulated porsions of wires under the center console. But you would think that would have blown a fuse or two before the cdi unit ?

    Could a open connection to the battery possibly cause the regulator to go high and fry the CDI?
    I know on some motors they say not to disconnect battery while running

      plausable , regulator seams to not be stuck open when I did the test, will check again.
