  • prop question

My 2300WA Key West has a F225TLR outboard on it. I've only had it a few weeks and when I got it out to run it WOT I noticed my speed only gets up to 34 MPH. I've contacted Key West and they've stated I should be over 40 MPH. The current prop is 13 3/4" 19 pitch. I believe Key West stated I need to go to either a 15 1/2" 19 pitch or a 15 1/2" 17 pitch. Besides slower speeds what other effects will the smaller diameter prop have?

Not knowing you RPM your information of speed really does not help

Could be your motor wants more gas or something is up. 225 with 19pitch should fly. My motor is a little tired but still has lots life left I am happy 4900 rpm top end

Too small of a prop would allow to many RPMs If the motor is running properly

Motors running should not be judged by speed it is more important to run your wot at its top end. What wot are you getting trimmed out? By that I can gauge what you need to get running where you want to be.
