mech says not timing belt but valves making noise

posted early this week i have twin f225 one of the timing belts 1/4 inch looser than starboard motor. I got a mech with 20 yrs exp to take a look he says need valves adjusted will get back with price. Does anybody have any experience with my situation.

If that is what making the noise then best to get them adjusted.
