  • 225 Yamaha OX66 bearing failure

I have a 2002 YAMAHA 225 OX66 which I am in the process of doing a rebuild and my question is after I pulled the motor apart I found the top connecting rod bearing to be severely damaged and the next connecting rod bearing showed discoloration due to heat. The cylinder on both of these looked fine. I am thinking the the top two bearings were starved from lubrication. Does this sound like a fuel pump issue?

I believe Rodbolt17 has said in the past that lack of oil usually gets bearings 1st and lean on fuel will get a piston 1st.
So I would be looking into the oil system (plugged lines ,check valves, leaking)
