G day everyone, I have a 9.9 I think its a 1990 model Yamaha, I recently purchased it. It runs really well but the only thing is its not pumping water. Would the problem be the impeller?. Sorry about my ignorance I am new to outboard motors. Any help much appreciated.

If it's not pumping water It's going to over heat very quickly. If you run the engine on muffs or in a barrel you can put your hand on the head, If it gets to hot to touch you are overheating.
If you don't see water coming out of the pee hole it probably means the hole or the line is plugged. Insects love to plug the hole up. Try cleanong it out with a wire. -
Thanks mate ill try that. I pulled the impeller out and it seems OK but I am told they can appear OK but still be buggered. Ill try cleaning the hole out a bit. it sorta smokes a bit outta the hole but I don't want to run it longer than like 15 seconds without the water to cool it.Comment
