  • Yamaha 30 Overheating

I have a 1991 30elrp Yamaha that was overheating and setting the alarm off. I took off the Cyl head and Thermostat and am in the process of cleaning the deposits. Head was plugged up with salt deposits.

My question is there anything I have to clean behind the exhaust cover. I was going to remove it but the bottom bolt was frozen after one turn and I do not want to break it off? Thanks

Most times you can get away with just cleaning the thermostat housing but taking the head off is one approach. I would def put a new impeller in though. Just as important as the rest of the stuff you are doing.
