  • Prop protector

I have a 5' x 10' inflatable with a transom that I run the rocky rivers with my Yamaha 4-stroke 4hp model #F4MSH. I'm wanting to know if you all think the following item would be a good addition to the skeg for prop protection:

    Mac's River Runner Prop Protector

Can this item be installed on my motor model?

Or, do you know of any other product that would be a better alternative from performance and cost standpoints?

    I appreciate any feedback!

It'll help some for a while, but after you hit enough rocks, the entire skeg may crack or break off, or you may develop cracks in the lower unit. If you can raise your motor up on the transom an inch or 2 it would help. Also tilt motor up a notch or so by moving tilt pin by one or two holes could be helpful. Good Luck!
