Water Pump Replacement-Key stuck in Shaft

I am replacing the water pump on my 2002 Yamaha 150 TXRA and the key is stuck in the shaft. One side of the key is flat the other side is beveled flush with the shaft. Nothing to grab with pliers. I've beaten on it with a chisel and nothing. Any ideas before I take the torch to it and heat it up?

use a dulled chisel, heat the key and make it glow, drive it out.
