  • 1986 yam 115 v 4 timming marks

Ok question on the timing. On the fly wheel their are 4 tdc marks tdc1 tdc2 tdc3 and 4 question is in the manuel says to have the mark lined up with tdc1 at 5 + 1 deg ( at Idal) on my eng it is at tdc2 at 5 + 1 deg. Is this right or even ok.

    Timing 115 yamaha

Is their anyone who can say if this is bad for my eng with the timing on atdc 2 instead of atdc1 getting rdy to take it in to have it looked at and don't want to spend the 250 they say it could cost to look or even fix the problem.

      timing

You should pull the flywheel and see if key is sheered

when the upper stbd(#1) piston is at TDC then the TDC marks with the BTDC and ATDC scale should be at TDC.
idle timing should be at 5* ATDC,carb pickup timing should be 4* ATDC and wot timing should be at 25* BTDC.
note the difference of ATDC and BTDC.
if the scale does not line up with the physical piston location ethier the pointer is off or the flywheel key is sheared.
