  • Yamaha 5hp 2-stroke water cooling problem

No replies yet. Can anybody advise me please on way to get to water impeller? Do I have to remove whole shaft housing?

You have to remove the lower unit. I'm not familiar with your model but have found yamaha's easy to do. Put it in neutral remove the bolts for the leg including the one under the trim tab if it has one. After replacing the impeller make sure he lower unit and the engine linkage are both in neutral.

Recommend you get a Yamaha Service Manual (YAMAHA MANUAL STORE) as it tells you every step for how to do this. I used one to overhaul the water pump on my 50HP and well worth the money. Could have probably done it with out it, but it left no doubt. Have also used the book to tear apart the carbs so the book has already paid for itself. Someone on this forum recommended this to me when I first jumped on the forum with questions and it has helped a novice like me a lot. Good luck.
