power trim gauge has changed

When new, my full down positon of the motor , the gauge was all the way down, and the proper trim was up about a quarter on the gauge. Now, full down is half way up, and proper trim is three fourths the way up. I do not know what caused the change. Is there a simple way to fix the problem
