1989 90hp 2stroke Engine with Yellow Oil Indicator Light that won't go off

Hi. Oil tank full yet yellow light still on.
THoughts?
THe guy I bought it from claims his mechanic emptied and cleaned the tank, cleaned a filter, and replaced the sensor and ran new wires to the gauge from the sensor.
Still on yellow even if full.

Probably don't have all the wires connected betwwen oil sensor and gauge.

as there are NO sensors in that system, you may have been lied to.
