  • Voltage Too High?

1994 Yamaha 200; voltage showing on multi-gauge is now 17.0 to 17.2 volts, at cruising speed (3,000 rpm or higher). Formerly ran 13.8 to 14.2V or so. I confirmed the voltage using my Furuno depthsounder display as well. The two Group 27 batteries (in parallel) are about three years old, but still in good shape (they hold a charge at about 12.2 volts or so).

I'm assuming that the rectifier/regulator went bad and just needs to be replaced. Is that a safe assumption? Haven't priced it out yet.

    Thanks, Sven

Need to have batterys load tested and check to see if proper battery for that model motor, check battery cables, battery switch and all grounds on engine. If all is good then replace regulator.
